Taking Inspired Action

I’ve been speaking and writing a lot about level changes lately--specifically because I have been actively engaged in bringing them about in my own life, and as a happy consequence, I continually attract those clients who are interested in doing the work to create level changes in their lives!

Since the hit movie “The Secret” was released last year, there has been much discussion about the role of action in the manifestation process.  Some viewers feel that the film understates the role that taking action plays in the creation process.  I don’t think  that the makers of “The Secret” meant to imply that all a person needs to do is meditate and visualize and suddenly all one’s desires are fulfilled.  But I do think it is a positive thing that the movie has opened the door to this discussion.

When you ask for something bigger and better than anything you’ve previously had--whether it be a job that pays more than you’ve ever made or a relationship based on unconditional love--you are asking for a level change.

And what a level change requires is that you change who you are being in the world.  And what results is that you put out a higher level of energy than you ever have before.

Does that mean you have to knock yourself out trying to effortfully create something?  Does that mean you have to pound the pavement tirelessly to find that job?

No.  In fact, doing these things can actually hold you back from achieving what you have set out to achieve.

How so?  Effortful striving is the result of trying to control the outcome.  This is a very human (and common) thing to do.  It is most often a waste of time and energy.  When we strive, we are in effect saying to the Universe, I know best.  I need to make this happen and I want it to happen no later than next Wednesday, therefore, I am going to knock myself out to force this outcome.

Once you have successfully sent out your order to the Universe, a number of things may happen to let you know you have completed the first step in the process of creation.

As I’ve stated before, this is commonly the time when challenges appear.  But this is actually good news.  It lets you know that your request has been received.  Things have started to get interesting, as per your request.

The next step is meeting these circumstances, whether they seem to be challenges or triumphs (or a little of both), as the person you have told the Universe (which is really just the grandest part of you) that you want to be.

As I’ve said before, a level change is nothing less than transforming who you are being in the world.  You must become the kind of person who would create the magnificent desire you have impressed on the Universe (i.e. your own higher consciousness).

In my article The Great Resistance, I stated the importance of reconnecting with your vision--and the big purpose behind it.  Having done this, it is important to keep doing it--to do the daily maintenance required to stay connected in a world that offers many distractions.

But back to the action.  Most people allow their level changes to die on the vine because, having stated the desire, they do not commit to a solid course of action--and take that action joyfully in connnection with their vision.  And even if start out strong, most fail to sustain that commitment by continuing to take action toward the completion of their level change.

So what is the difference between taking action that comes from being the person who would achieve this desire and beating your head against a wall trying to make a thing happen in a certain way and in a certain time?

The difference is inspiration.  When you take an inspired action, one that comes from being your higher-level self, there is a sense of knowing that comes with it.  You feel inspired to do this thing.  Even though it may challenge you in some way.  You have aligned yourself with the vision and you are acting from a place of alignment.  You feel guided.  This is inspired action.

And sometimes you may be inspired to work really hard, or achieve something by a certain deadline.  If it’s inspired action, you will feel energized by it.  In the process, you will inspire yourself and others.

It is very important to know that this is going to require a level of energy and action you have not yet put out into the world.

And to get to that place, you need to take a completely new approach to the actions that would move you in the direction of being the person you need to be to achieve the desire you have stated.

Read that last paragraph again.  That is the place you must come from when taking action.  Again, you must continually refresh and renew your vision; this is not hard work, in fact it is a very joyful and easy process.  And once you have done this, the action you will inspire yourself to take becomes joyful and seemingly effortless as well.
