Beliefs: The Advanced techniques
I’ll start this article with a statement. The quality of our lives is largely determined by the quality of our beliefs. If you and I share this opinion and if you have read my previous articles on the subject of beliefs and/or had a session with me recently, you may be ready for what I call the Advanced Technique in working with beliefs.
If you’ve taken stock of your limiting beliefs, you probably have noticed that there are 2 or 3 of these beliefs that are constantly being “reactivated” in your day-to-day life.
For example, many people have the belief that money doesn’t last, which oftentimes is connected to the larger belief that all good things go away. Relationships don’t last. Good times don’t last. And so on. For many people this belief creates experience after experience.
But it doesn’t much matter what the exact belief is, or even that you pin down the belief and know how to word it. What matters is that it’s continually creating experiences in your life that seem to reflect back to you more and more evidence of its so-called truth. Those persistent beliefs have a way of becoming self-fulfilling prophecies.
So the question is, now that we know how to notice a belief in action, how do we go about neutralizing and dissolving its power?
The key to this is consciousness--plus Truth. As I have mentioned before, there is no such thing as a true belief. There are only beliefs that are supprtive or unsupportive. When it becomes clear through your experience that you’re in the grips of an unsupportive belief (for example, you may be having an experience such as worrying about your finances or your love life) there are two things to do.
The first is to expand your consciousness of what is happening. Your emotions will be heightened. This is your indication that a limiting belief is at work. Allow your feelings to come through. Allow them to be as they are and even increase in intensity if that is what is happening. The key here is to stay conscious. This just means that in addition to feeling the feelings, you are also noticing the feelings with curiosity and a degree of detachment.
The second step is to then use a mantra, or an affirmation of Truth, that you will have created for the purpose of consciously neutralizing and dissolving your limiting beliefs. This is a very personal step. You will want to use the following guidelines to create your statement of truth.
This statement should address: 1) The Truth of who you are and your connection to all that is. 2) The falseness of the belief that is creating the experience. 3) The release and dissolution of the false belief. 4) The expansion of truth in your life and experience.
An example of such a statement is: I am one with the Universe. This is the truth of who I am. I now dissolve all false beliefs and release anything I no longer need. I allow the truth of who I am to infuse my being and my life experience as I expand in consciousness and power.
As you recite this statement (mantra, prayer, affirmation—again it doesn’t matter what you call it), you will begin to feel an increase in presence.
In the beginning, be aware that this will take some getting used to. Always, when attempting to create a new habit, noticing is key. Be patient with yourself and the process. You won’t remember to do this every time. But, if you persist, it will eventually become habit. And as it does, you will feel your personal power increase as the limiting belief becomes smaller and less significant in your life.
